Preventive Care/Cleanings

Dr Bobby Hassanzadeh DDS firmly believe that prevention is better than cure, especially in dentistry. There are a number of things you can practice at home to keep your mouth healthy, and oral infections at bay. Oral hygiene, in-office preventive measures, routine check-ups, and certain dietary/lifestyle modifications go a long way in making sure you never have to get a filling, root canal or a tooth replacement treatment!

The root cause of most dental problems is lack of oral hygiene, or inefficient cleaning techniques. This leads to the accumulation of plaque around the teeth, in hard-to-reach corners. When left for a long period of time uncleaned and unremoved, plaque can harden to form tartar, or calculus. This substance gives rise to harmful gingival infections which can ultimately lead to early tooth loss. One way to combat these infections is by visiting the clinic at least twice a year for professional dental cleaning, also known as Scaling. Scaling is a procedure that removes all accumulated bacteria, plaque, food debris and calculus from the teeth and below the gums, restoring their health. You can also get fissure sealants to give an extra layer of protection to your molars, which is one of the most effective ways of preventing caries in young children.
